Wonder, Delight, and Learning
The entire two years our kids attended Roots y Ramas, it was a daily and weekly exercise in wonder and delight that an environment truly this wonderful had been created for the children.
Every teacher of this school is incredibly kind, generous, sensitive, wholeheartedly embracing of differences, self-aware and grounded, deeply steeped in understanding little humans. They are truly inspired and energized by the work they do with the children in nature, in community.
The days may be long, but it was always plain to see how much the teachers love being forest school teachers—there was just so much sweetness and playfulness!
Not having family in town, and being spread pretty thin as parents, we are profoundly grateful to Roots y Ramas for helping raise our kids. This is a short list of what I feel our kids learned from the school:• listening to nature and being aware of all the beings with whom we share this planet
• finding words to share their emotions and knowing they are always safe and respected in doing so
• the habit of making art, both painting and creating with nature, songs, music and dance!
The school did an excellent job of settling the kids into their first big experience of larger community.

Exceptional teachers, Inspiring Setting
Roots y Ramas Forest School is wonderful in so many ways!
1) The teachers are the kindest, most caring, thoughtful, knowledgeable and fun teachers we could ask for. They have many years of experience caring for children and teaching ecology, and it really shows in the care they give to each child and their teachings about the natural world.
2) The school could not be in a more beautiful setting. We love that our child gets to spend her days outdoors playing in and learning about nature. That she gets to go to school in the redwoods each day is very special. She loves it so much that she doesn't want to leave at the end of the day!
3) The curriculum includes ecology, social justice, and Spanish education. Paired with the nurturing, caring, experienced teachers, it really doesn't get better than this!
4) The school community is great too. There are optional events throughout the year, like a camping trip, seed exchange, Día de Los Muertos altar, Winter Solstice celebration, and Spring Picnic that bring the whole community together. It's such a great place for my child and my whole family. I can't recommend Roots y Ramas highly enough!

From Nervous to Joyful in a Week
Our son had a hard time adjusting to a nanny, so I was nervous about preschool. But within a week at Roots y Ramas, he was confidently walking off on his own. That trust and comfort didn’t come from nowhere — it came from how deeply supportive and loving the environment is. This school is truly inclusive, warm, and built on genuine connection.
