Nido Spanish Enrichment

El Nido is a nature-based Spanish immersion program designed for TK–1st grade students, and for children with early dismissal at Berkeley school district or Oakland school district and homeschoolers.

Held entirely in a forest setting, Nido offers the perfect balance of language learning and outdoor exploration. Through songs, games, movement, and art, children practice Spanish while developing a deep connection to the natural world.

The program is led by two highly experienced Forest School educators, Eva Sivill, one of the founders at Roots y Ramas Forest School who’s been an educator for multiple grades from preschool to 6th grade for over 15 years and Elena Topete with more than a decade as a Lead teacher at Escuelita del bosque, who bring years of expertise in both early childhood education and nature-based learning. Nido is more than an enrichment program—it’s a joyful, nurturing space for curiosity, creativity, and cultural connection to thrive.

Nido is offered Tuesday through Friday from 2pm to 5pm in Berkeley. Location will be send over email once you sign up.

My child has been attending the Nido Spanish immersion program and absolutely loves it. Her primary teacher, Eva, has been fantastic. She’s warm, welcoming, and always easy to reach if I have any questions. She has a great way of teaching Spanish that really connects with the kids and makes learning fun. My daughter looks forward to it every week and has had an amazing experience.

Even now that she’s starting TK, we’re continuing with El Nido and plan to in the years to come. It’s a wonderful mix of outdoor play, Spanish language learning, and time with friends all in a calm, nature based setting that supports learning in a fun and relaxed way. It’s also a great option for families with early school dismissal since it starts at 2 pm, a great alternative to typical after school care.

Highly, highly recommend!

Leila Buenviaje, Leo’s mama

El Nido is worth it, our kiddo loved the Spanish stories and songs and just being in the forest. I cannot say enough good things about these teachers. We love them so much we’re doing El Nido again this year. Our kiddo now attends Kindergarten in Oakland, and we know it will be worth it to bring him to the forest for two hours to be in such loving and beautiful community. I remember how would often he would come home singing the songs. I can tell they brought him so much joy.

I should also mention that we are a queer BIPOC fam, with a gender nonconforming kiddo. We experienced nothing but love and support, and the teachers welcomed feedback along the way.
